The thing about the GRE is that it’s sometimes required and sometimes not. It’s more popular in North America than in the UK and other place, but English speaking institutes all over the world require it sometimes, so some UK universities may ask for a GRE score. This varies not only by country, but also by school, department, or program, so for example a Physics program at some London University may ask for a GRE score but the English program at the same university won’t (or vice versa).

It’s best to either check ahead of time, or just take the test and send the scores if they’re required, just to make sure that you don’t end up missing deadlines because you though you wouldn’t have to take the GRE.

Hey plz suggest me, I had a confussion regarding doing MS in US. I am preparing for coming US for my Masters for Fall 2010. But my problem is all my friends relatives are asking me to stop my plans to US because of the tough times and economy in recession in US. How long will the position be the same? Can we expect economy to recover after a year? And also how about the chances of getting financial aid at this recession period…..

Yes, top Universities do offer financial aid. However, these are incredibly hard to get- the big awards would go to the smartest people in the world. The top schools also have loan programs do if you manage to apply successfully. However, it’s important to be realistic- chance are that unless you’re quite brilliant you’ll have to pay for most of your education yourself.

The situation is similar in all universities. It’ll be easier for you to get a scholarship at a school that’s not top, but at the same time these schools won’t have as much resources to give (especially these days). There are scholarships available, depending on the school they could range anywhere between $500 – $25000, but most often they’ll be between $1000 – $4000. I hope this helps.

Hello Can Somebody please tell me the difference between SAT I and SAT II? Is it that the questions on subjects we chose for SAT II are of higher level? Is it recommended that there should be a variety when we chose subjects for SAT II? Moreover what is the syllabus for these subjects? I have read that it is of 12 std. but is the 12 std. in US same as in India? I am looking forward to engineering/B.Sc. in Physics, so are there any kind of recommendations about the subjects I chose for SATII? Kindly help

Hi, For scholarship every university has eligibility criteria mentioned on their website. You should check it on the website and then apply for it. If you fulfill the eligibility criteria only then you can expect scholarship. Some universities do provide family accomodation but for that charges would be high.

HI , Rajat here i just want to take an advice from you , as we prepare for ” CAT ” we do fill up forms for other entrance exams like ” iift , irma , mat , fms ” well these exams need speed and accuracy whereas on the other hand in CAT we have to be accurate and we should be able to select the correct questions that we have to attempt , at times it is very difficult to attempt 150 question in 2hours and whereas CAT demands us to attempt only 30 questions. please give some advice on that .
