Question:
Job Opportunities in Germany after MS in Automotive Engg.

Avatar
Asked by sanyam89

What are the chances of getting a job after completion of our masters degree in Automotive Engg. in Germany? Are they equally good as in US?

Bacause I 've heard from many people that there are not enough jobs in Germany but as I have seen in most of the industries be it a powerplant or production unit, all the machines are "made in GERMANY".

Please elucidate.
Please also suggest some good Universities.

    Hello,

Germany is a world-renowned manufacturer and exporter for automobiles, industrial plants, heavy machinery and photovoltaic equipment. Such expertise attracts international engineering students in search of a high-quality education. Germany is known for its industrial hub (Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Hannover, Bonn, etc.) Many world famous German companies such as Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen, Siemens, Bosch, SAP etc, provide excellent career opportunities to one and all, irrespective of their nationality. Thousands of supplier companies to these big giants also keep their doors open to the international talents.

The degrees offered are internationally recognized. This eliminates the fear in most of the young minds are skeptical about their degree earned in Germany.

The German universities are usually located in such strategic locations where the industry concentration predominant and the research hubs are easily reachable. This helps the industry-university interaction grow further and eventually to make the learning environment bidirectional. Eventually, it also helps the students who look for jobs after their Master Degree to stay and work in the same city.

Kindly elaborate your profile so that a specific list of universities can be specified. You may access the following tool below and our counseling team will get in touch with you and guide you further :

    Hi Dipika,

    Thank you for your reply.

I have completed my B.tech in Mechanical & Automation Engineering from Amity University. (CGPA - 7.17/10)

I did my industrial training in Maruti Suzuki Ltd. for 2 months and my final year project was "Automatic Braking System".

    I am expecting 1300-1350 in GRE and 95 - 100 in TOEFL.

Please suggest some colleges according to my profile.

    I have some other questions:
    1. I've heard that if you do MS from USA you get 1 year extended VISA so that you can search for jobs there. Is this also the case if I do MS in Germany?

2.are there equal chances of getting admission in Spring season as in Fall in Germany as well as USA. 3. Is there any financial aid limitation in Spring season

    Hello,

The course of automobile engineering has evolved in various prospects that help the candidates to explore new horizons in this field. The course is now moving from the core based applications of the teachings for the automobile industry to other industries as well.
In the course of the progressive globalization of the economy, the graduates from this course of study have, now more than ever, a wide range of job perspectives in and out of Germany. Thereby, the master degree opens doors to attractive leading positions not only in large-scale enterprises but even more in small- and middle-sized enterprises as well, which offers great and rapid opportunities for promotion.

Generally the job scenario in Germany is very positive in lieu of the location of the universities and the fact that Germany is known for its technological innovation. The German universities are usually located in such strategic locations where the industry concentration predominant and the research hubs are easily reachable. This helps the industry-university interaction grow further and eventually to make the learning environment bidirectional.

Innovative industry sectors, in which increasingly specialists are needed, are namely the automotive engineering sector, the robotics sector, the sensor sector, the laser technology area without forgetting the software domain. Good job opportunities are still offered in the automotive branch and in engineering offices.

Irrespective of the international location considered, please note the students visa and work visa are varying categorizations and hence the eligibility criteria too varies.

I hope the above stated helps!

    Good luck!

    Hello Sanjay,

If you are targeting for German universities the most advisable plan of action would be to enroll for a Masters program and then consider a PhD since MS+PhD is not offered in Germany and the academic qualification for a PhD program is the completion of a Masters.

Though you have not elaborated o your academic grades or the scores on the test takes, you may go through the following universities :

    • Aachen TH
    • Dresden University
    • University of Esslingen
    • University of Hamburg
    • Technical University Munich

    I hope this helps!

    Take care!

    Hello Rahul,

Please note US is known destination that offers quality education in almost all streams of study and the same stands for higher education in Mechanical Engineering. In fact some of the schools like Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, University of California- Berkeley etc. are known worldwide for the Mechanical Engineering program.

However, Germany has its own benefits and offers equally sound program in Mechanical Engineering and universities like RWTH Aachen University, Technical University of Munich, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology etc. are known worldwide for the Mechanical Engineering program.

If you are aiming for the same then you need to meet with certain requirements. As per your query, you need to take either of the English Proficiency Test (TOEFL / IELTS) and the German Language Proficiency Test required to study at German higher education institutions.

With regard to the mode of education, a good number of German universities offer education via English and German mode of education.

Also, the expenses incurred during the stay for the program in Germany is far more less in comparison to locations like US and on the contrary the options for financial assistance is brighter in Germany than US. However, as per the information imparted by DAAD, international students need to be able to prove that they have at least 643 euros per month available to them. That amounts to 7,716 euros per academic year.

The bifurcation of the requirement is stated below :

Most of the governmental universities charge around 500 EUR/semester, including 250 euros that is mandatory for the student's parliament, canteen, public transport expenditure etc., health insurance could some up to another 50 to 60 euros, and accommodation expenses (hostel) of around 180 to 300 (subject to availability).

The cost of living in Germany is quite high in comparison with many countries in Asia, Africa or Latin America. Tuition fees used to be unknown in Germany. But the situation has changed over recent years. Initially, fees were introduced for long-term students, visiting students (i.e. from other universities) and for participants of postgraduate and Master's programs. Tuition can amount to between 650 and several thousand euros per semester. Students also have to pay the semester fee for each semester.

Apart form the tuition always account for these costs

    • The semester fee (once per semester)
    • Expenses for study materials and excursions (as needed)
    • Health insurance contributions (monthly)
    • Tuition fees (once per semester: not at all universities and not in all programs).

I hope the above stated helps you with all your queries.

    Take care!

    Hello,

Since you have completed 15 years of formal education, your options are likely to be narrowed down in locations like US and Canada. Instead you could consider locations like UK, Australia that accept the completion of 15 years of formal education for the Masters level.

Also, please note we at Learnhub offer counseling services for educational queries and related career prospects and do not cater with the job options in varying locations.

Also, since you have specified interest in Computer Science and Information Technology Management, it is important you understand the difference between the two so that you make the choice that takes you closer to your career goals.

Computer science is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation and of practical techniques for their implementation and application in computer systems and requires thinking both in abstract terms and in concrete terms.

IT Management on the other hand aims to explore the many different technologies inherent in the field of information technology and their impact on information systems design, functionality, operations, and management. It is the discipline whereby all of the technology resources of the firm are managed in accord with the company's needs and priorities.

The above stated clearly demarcates between the specified field of interest and the career path it leads to. Think well and do get back with more precise information with regard to the field of study, location so that we can guide you better.

    Take care!

Hi Dipika, I am currently pursuing my bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, and i am currently in final year. I want to do masters in automobile engineering from germany. My third year aggregate is 67% and will try to score as much as possible. I need to ask you some questions
    1) What will be an appropriate score in TOEFl to aim for top german universities.?

    2) What can be an ideal aggregate for my bachelors degree? (because in our university the degree is prepared by considering your 3rd and 4th year marks) I mean the aggregate of 3rd and 4th year.

    3) Are german masters degrees recognied in India.?

    4) What are job prospects after completing my masters..?

    5) Whether GRE is compulsary..? Becase not all universities ask for GRE score.? Can it help me to get a good college.?

Hoping to see your reply soon…

    Thanking You..

    Hey,
As far as I have heard the german visa is made for three months in d 1st go and then extended on yearly basis, on the recommendations of faculty in the college, till the course lasts. So how do the international students actually get a chance for appearing in job interviews etc.
